How Nandos Changed Everything

When I was five my friends invited me to Nandos in Harrow. I ordered a veggie burger because I was a vegetarian and when it arrived I studied it. A slice of lettuce, tomato, burger, pineapple, between two crispy buns. It took me half an hour to eat it, I hated it.

Soon another Nandos opened about three minutes away from my house. The Kingsbury Nandos. It was a lot bigger than the south Harrow Nandos and looked more lively too. I was a bit older and decided to go to Nandos again. This time the burger was better, I made sure I had plenty of lemon and herb sauce with it too.

Gradually the burger became better and better and as I grew older it changed from lemon and herb to hot. My tastes were changing, I loved the spicy hot food and looked forward every two weeks to a Nandos veggie burger.

It was not long before these burgers became the best I had ever tasted, by the time I was thirteen I had eaten many different types of veggie burgers and Nandos veggie burgers were by far the best.

My secondary school is in Hammersmith and I have to take the train every day. After a bit of exploring around the station I discovered another Nandos, this time Hammersmith Nandos. Once I told my friends, every Friday we would go to Nandos, we all looked forward to it every week.

One day one of my friends asked me a question.

"Why do you come to Nandos to eat a veggie burger when Nandos is famous for its chicken?"

I could not reply, I had never eaten meat in my life. I was not very religious but I guess I just felt sorry for the animals which people kill for us to eat. This was the day where everything changed.

My friend offered me to try some chicken, it was only a small bit, probably the size of a thumb nail. I said it was too chewy.
The next Friday I decided to try a bit more chicken, I added some sauce and the chicken tasted amazing. When my friend went to top up his drink I actually stole a whole wing and ate it before he got back.

Now I am fifteen and recently me and my friends decided to go to Westfield. After watching a film we all went to Westfield Nandos. I ate about 15 chicken wings, one veggie burger and two portions of Peri Peri chips.

I want to thank Nandos for a few things.

Number one - Introducing me to the Nandos Veggie Burger
Number two - Developing my ability to eat spicy foods and for making peri peri sauce
Number three - Introducing me to chicken, if it was not for Nandos I would never have eaten meat in my life

Thank You Nandos!
